New Director Of Film announced at Pact
John McVay, chief executive of Pact, has announced the appointment of Tim Willis as Director of Film, replacing Ronnie Planalp, who is moving back to New York with her family.
Willis will have overall responsibility for devising and implementing Pact's film strategy and will work closely with the Pact executive team, the Pact film policy group and Margaret Matheson, vice chair of film at Pact and managing director of Bard Entertainments.
Willis has had a long career in corporate finance and consultancy. Most recently he has worked as a consultant to a range of companies, including to the private equity division of a FTSE 350 company. Previously he was a director at Civilian Content, where he negotiated the acquisition of lottery franchise The Film Consortium from Virgin Group. He also held the post of corporate finance director at a leading international investment bank.
John McVay said: "Yet again Pact demonstrates its commitment to the British film industry by employing an individual who has the necessary skills, knowledge and aptitude to make a difference for British independent film producers and contribute to the legitimate debate about a sustainable British film industry."
Tim Willis added: "It is a great opportunity to be joining Pact at such an exciting and challenging time in the evolution of the UK film industry. I am looking forward to continuing Ronnie's efforts and to working with all at Pact to support the commercial interests of the UK film sector and our members.”
