PACT APPOINTS NEW CHIEF EXECUTIVE

PACT, the trade body for independent television and feature film production companies, have announced the appointment of John McVay as Chief Executive.
McVay will succeed Shaun Williams, who leaves PACT in February following five years with the organization. McVay is currently Director of the Research Centre for Television and Interactivity in Glasgow, a public private venture supported by Channel Four, BBC Discovery, Scottish Enterprise Glasgow and the European Regional Development Fund.
McVay’s remit is to invest in and develop independent production companies based in the Nations and Regions of the UK.
McVay said: “PACT has demonstrated that it is the most dynamic Trade Association in the UK. This is due to the hard work and commitment of Shaun Williams and dedicated producers who have ensured that the vital interests of independent producers have been protected and promoted to the Government, regulatory authorities and broadcasters.”
PACT Chairman, Beryl Vertue, said: “We are very fortunate indeed to have recruited someone with such conviction and passion for the independent sector, and with such a deep understanding of the development of production companies in a new media era, to build on all the valuable work that Shaun has done for PACT.”
McVay will relocate in the New Year and takes office at the end of February.
Williams, a former journalist and BBC Graduate Production Trainee, joined PACT as Deputy Chief Executive in 1995, and was appointed Chief Executive in February 1998.
