Soho 601 posts new Suede promo

Soho 601 has completed postproduction on the new Suede promo "Positivity", directed by Julian Gibbs from Intro.
The promo begins with Brett walking purposely into a white washed recording studio drinking from a bottle of water. As the band begins to perform, near-subliminal images of nature start to appear. Gradually the images of the nature proliferate and the camera reveals flowers covering the studio floor and a huge branch extending out of the wall. Birds fly around, petals cascade before the band and butterflies hover on Brett¹s t-shirt. As nature encroaches the band remain oblivious, lost in their own performance.
Julian used a combination of subverted video and Œrealistic¹ film techniques. The promo was shot using Super 16mm and mini DV. The resolution of the images has been deliberately degraded the end result is an abstract, painterly effect of strong colours against a pure white background.
The Director, Julian Gibbs says that: "In essence this film is about nature taking over. The use of video taps into the psychology of the genre: images that have been captured on video have an honesty and integrity that our brains judge to be 'real', so we're not expecting anything strange to happen..."
Des Anwar, Head of Inferno says: "After Adam completed the TK (Spirit) here at 601, I conformed and composited the basic layers giving Julian a base to work on in After Effects at Intro. The promo was then returned to me at 601 for final touches."
