OmniTek Tests Students In Finland

A leading test and measurement manufacturer, OmniTek, has announced that North Karelia University of Applied Sciences has selected the OmniTek XR image analysis system for use in its Centre for Creative Industries in Joensuu Science Park in Finland.
The OmniTek XR, which was sold through OmniTek's distributor ComboSys Oy, has been installed in the visual monitoring room and be used in the University's education centre which manages research and development projects, and provides further and continuous education to students in Finland.
Stig Sohlberg, System Specialist at ComboSys Oy, said: "The OmniTek XR is used by most of the major post houses all around the world and it is the most popular system in Helsinki.
"Therefore, it is important that educational establishments such as North Karelia University are able to let students learn using the equipment which they will come across in their professional careers.
"The XR will be used to teach colour grading on 3D film production projects. In addition, students will be able to learn all about quality control and, most importantly, how to read instruments correctly."
The OmniTek XR is specifically designed for colourists and post production editors working in a high-definition environment. It offers users a comprehensive monitoring system that is compatible with all regular SD and HD formats, enabling detailed analysis of the colourimetry and gamut of the specific material being processed.
In addition, the OmniTek SR has a number of unique features not available on any other monitoring system, such as "extreme resolution" waveform and vector displays for total image analysis; real-time colour histogram displays in a variety of different gamuts; support for all 2K and dual-link input formats, with user-programmable LUTs to correct for non-linear inputs; support for "XYZ" colour space inputs for users working in digital cinema.
Since its launch in 2005, the OmniTek SR has become the system of choice for high-end post-production facilities from Soho to Hollywood. Last year, the OmniTek XR also won a Queen's Award for Enterprise in the Innovation category.
