Hireworks Completes Purchase Of London Editing Machines

Hireworks, the Pinewood-based film and TV editing dry hire company, renting all of the off-line editing for the current Harry Potter movie, has completed the purchase of London Editing Machines (LEM), suppliers of editing kit on the recent Bond movie Casino Royale.
The purchase of the West London-based company means that Hireworks will have quadrupled its turn turnover, to £2 million, since the company was established in 2007 and will add even more film production/editing expertise to the company.
Further expansion plans in the pipeline also includes the imminent opening of a new dry hire facility in Soho and a hire outlet at Teddington Studios. This major expansion will allow Hireworks to service a wide variety of film and television productions. All of the sites will be linked through Sohonet and material can be accessed from any of the four Hireworks locations.
Hireworks is also partnering Pinewood Studios in their soon to be opened media transfer centre supplying the technology and personnel. This brings Hireworks to the very heart of film production services available at Pinewood.
Finally, in addition to having over 100 Avids available for dry hire, making Hireworks one of the largest Avid hire companies in Europe, there will be Lightworks & Final Cut Pro edit systems available plus a wide range of standard Def and HD VTRs and a very strong technical support team.
Hireworks was launched in the summer of 2007, originating from the purchase of Clear Cut Hire by Lawrie Read, Mark Cox and Phil Kent.
Based at Pinewood Studios, it has since seen its turnover double in the first six months of trading.
Further information is available at: www.hireworks.co.uk.
LEM has been running for 27 years and supplies dry-hire editing systems, plus dedicated support and consultancy services, to film and television production companies, with equipment selected from leading manufacturers such as Avid, Lightworks, Sony, Genelec and Mackie, as well as a wide range of traditional film editing equipment and consumables.
