Mediabox Funding Allocations Made To Companies

Youth organisations throughout England have recently been awarded funds through the second round of Mediabox.
Mediabox is a 6 million Department for Education and Skills fund for 13-19 year olds to make media projects. Organisations and individuals can apply for one of three funds, with awards of between 500 and 80,000.
The panel selected 23 projects across England, which will directly benefit 1,819 young people. More than 500 London teenagers will benefit from this round with 9 London-based companies having received money.
The following organisations have secured funding for the production of youth led media projects:
  • BBA Media - radio programme production training;
  • Fierce productions - two film projects;
  • Independent Photography - radio and film projects;
  • PhotoVoice - photography and digital media projects;
  • LI>Point Blank - industry skills projects;
  • Ritzy Animation - short animation projects;
  • Tower Hamlets Summer University (THSU) - media courses
  • Urban Vision - media training;
  • WAC - factualised video.
There are three more funding rounds running until November 2008. The next application deadline is 17 July 2007.
There is also a Mediabox information event on 15 June where there will be the chance to ask questions about the available funds, take part in a speed networking session to help find partners for putting in applications, and to hear about some of the possibilities afforded by interactive media and games for working with young people.

Mediabox will be delivered by a consortium led by First Light Movies, in partnership with Media Trust, Skillset and the UK Film Council.
