Film London announces diverse funding round
From Hackney to Hammersmith, 12 cinema projects across the capital are to benefit from Film London funding and support.
Londoners will have the opportunity to see a selection of films which otherwise would not be available in the capital, with subjects such as Tito’s Yugoslavia, the genocide in Rwanda and contemporary Chinese cinema all coming under the spotlight. Interviews with filmmakers and panel talks will complement the screenings.
New projects to receive assistance include film seasons on Bosnia, the Balkans and African heritage. Education projects include an initiative across ten London boroughs to introduce a wider range of film to young people which will include workshops, screenings and masterclasses for students and training and support materials for teachers.
Other projects set to receive support include film festivals celebrating Latin American, Jewish, Turkish and Asian cinema, animation workshops and the well-established London Disability Film Festival. In addition to funding, the projects will also benefit from in-depth help and support from Film London, including marketing seminars and expert advice.
Adrian Wootton, Chief Executive of Film London said: “Film London is pleased to support such a range of projects which not only reflect the unique diversity of the capital but which will also help to bring new audiences to film.”
Funding has also been allocated for the creation of the London Film Archive Network which will provide an on-line catalogue of London’s film archive collections and organise associated public screenings and events.
These projects are funded through Film London’s Audience Development Fund.
