BBC PREPARE STUDENTS FOR TECHNICAL CAREER

BBC Training and Development have teamed up with De Montfort University to create a degree course, designed to prepare students for a technical career in broadcasting.
The new B.Sc. (Hons) Broadcasting Technology degree is a four-year sandwich programme. It incorporates a year spent in industry as well as hands on modules covering fundamental and specialist knowledge which will be delivered at BBC’s Training and Development centre at Wood Norton.
Simon Shute, Head of Broadcast Training at BBC Training and Development said: “The industry is already experiencing difficulty in recruiting sufficient numbers of suitably qualified staff. This new degree gives students the unique opportunity to learn with up-to-date equipment within a real broadcast environment. It also provides companies with an ideal vehicle through which to sponsor potential employees. By investing in students, companies will have the benefit of their time throughout their third year and during vacations. Additionally sponsors will also find that on graduation their new employees will be in a position to make an immediate contribution.”
The course commences in October 2001. For further details contact De Montfort university Tel: 0116 257 7056.
