BBC Training & Development at IBC

Visitors to stand 9.550 in Hall 9 will be able to explore a range of completely new courses which BBC Training & Development - the world's leading provider of training to the broadcast industry - is launching at IBC.
For instance, BBC Training & Development's portfolio of 200 courses now includes a new Internet Engineering course. Designed for broadcast engineers, this covers web servers and website maintenance for corporate internet and intranet sites, the basics of networks, Windows NT/2000 and Linux operating systems. It looks at web site construction and how to provide dynamic content and interactivity and also covers programming, including the use of Java, Flash, Fireworks and streaming media.
BBC Training & Development will also be unveiling its latest range of new media production courses. These are now available to media practitioners outside the BBC. Ranging from editorial courses such as web writing and creativity through to graphics design principles and creating good video content for streaming on the web, these courses teach people to go beyond just making web sites to creating dynamic content that works for online audiences.
New media aside, there will be a raft of other groundbreaking courses which BBC Training & Development will be showcasing at IBC. For instance organisations looking to train new engineers will be able to find out about the Foundation Engineering courses. Completed over a total of 15 weeks, the well-established courses are a benchmark for the industry.
Similarly, in the past 12 months both Carlton Television Ltd and Kingston inmedia have sent staff on the Basic TV training course. The BBC Training & Development team will be explaining why this course is proving so popular.

Experienced engineers, who need to master fault-finding on digital television transport streams, will want to explore the Monitoring and Maintaining DVB Streams course. New technologies, TCP/IP networking and advanced networks will be another major area covered at the Show.
As staff move across to digital technology, so broadcasters are looking at ways to quickly upgrade their skills. Digital Technologies for Operators has been designed with them in mind. While as technology becomes cheaper so there has been a huge expansion in video editing on laptop and desktop PCs, particularly by journalists out in the field. The Desktop Editing course has been created to meet this need.
