BBC Training & Development looks to the future at IBC

BBC Training & Development is to host a futuristic and provocative session, 'Broadcast Engineer of the future – born or made?', at IBC on Monday September 12.
BBC Training & Development is also returning to the Training Zone with free taster sessions on this year's hot topics; Internet research, high definition TV and interactive TV.
Over the next five years broadcast, IT and telecommunications are converging, bringing fantastic new possibilities to create, distribute and access broadcast content. But has anyone really thought about the implications for the people designing, building and maintaining these broadcast systems of the future? What skills will be needed to manage everything from tapeless production to delivery on platforms we haven’t even heard of yet?
Nigel Paine, Head of BBC Training & Development has invited a number of speakers representing broadcasters, Tiffany Hall, BBC Technology Direction and Phil Laven, Director EBU Technical Department; manufacturers, Bill Hudson, Apple Professional Services; and service providers, Paula Mathews, Siemens, to discuss and debate this crucial issue.
