OmniBus provide Ravensbourne students with free training
OmniBus Systems have given leading students from Ravensbourne College of Design and Communication, a University Sector College in SE London, the opportunity to use a complete, integrated automation and media management solution for the first time.
The free training course was run at its Stanford-on-Soar headquarters during the summer.
“OmniBus’ decade-long experience as a leading provider of automation and asset management solutions has helped it develop a level of business understanding and a robust operational architecture that few can match,” said Roger Conway, Senior Lecturer in HNC Broadcast Post Production at Ravensbourne College. “The opportunity to gain direct experience of this operational and technological expertise will prove extremely beneficial in our students’ future careers."
Beatriz Alonso-Martinez, head of training, OmniBus Systems said: “The complexity and expense of most automation systems means that this approach often represents the only way the next generation of operators, technicians and engineers can acquire real hands-on experience of this type of technology.”
The facilities at Stanford enabled qualified OmniBus trainers to take the Ravensbourne classes through the entire newsroom automation process from handling ingest to browse, editing, integration with newsroom systems and ultimately transmission control.
They also allowed OmniBus to tailor their tuition to each student’s individual areas of interest and to demonstrate how key applications, such as the Colossus multi-channel control system and the Columbus automation module, work.
In addition, OmniBus delivered a lecture to forty students from the National Centre of Excellence for Broadcasting, which included a broad introduction to the company itself and to the concept of automation in general.
