Sitcom purchases eQ for its HD future

Italian independent satellite broadcaster Sitcom has purchased a Quantel eQ editing/ effects/ grading/ deliverables system as the hub for its editing and graphics operations as it readies itself for the HD future.
The eQ was selected as the result of a rigorous evaluation of all the options available in the market by the Sitcom team. Technical Director, Riccardo Papi sees the eQ as a natural choice for his station’s needs. “Quantel’s generationQ products really cover all our digital broadcasting needs; the eQ fits our workflow model perfectly.”
The eQ, which is configured with 80 minutes of HD storage, was up and running the day after delivery in Sitcom’s production centre, producing world-class stings, promos and adverts in the hands of Sitcom’s two virtuoso editors.
Guy Hazell, one of the Sitcom editors who were heavily involved in the selection of the eQ, feels instantly at home with the new system: “eQ works in a way that is very close to my natural editing rhythm and flow, and has all the tools I need for editing and finishing – it’s obvious that Quantel’s engineers worked very closely with editors in designing the system.
“Particularly key for me in a busy broadcast environment is the eQ’s ability to help me make many changes and different versions very quickly as I work,” Hazell continueD. “The GUI is very clean and the system is perfectly at ease on our network, so it’s very easy to move materials within our facility for a more co-operative workflow.”
