Die Paten Chooses EQ For Charity Documentary

The first project through die paten’s system will be a very high profile HD charity documentary called ‘Ithemba Afrika’ – 'Hope is coming to Africa'.
The documentary, backed by KarstadtQuelle AG (Neckermann, Quelle, Karstadt, Thomas Cook - one of the world’s largest travel groups) and, among others, Sir Richard Branson of the Virgin Group, looks at the catastrophic impact of HIV/Aids on Africa, but carries a message of hope too – that with a will, there is a solution; treatment is possible for this terrible disease.
The documentary will get its premiere in the cinema – on film. “Our company’s slogan is ‘Quality Matters’; Quantel is the natural choice,” said Mr Kay Lottermoser, Managing Director and one of die paten’s producers. “As a full-service production and post facility, we need to make sure that the client gets the quality and look they want. This film can make a real difference to millions of people’s lives. The film can help to find new donors for AIDS awareness programmes and for this kind of a job no other system can match the speed and quality of eQ; it edits very fast and other important stuff like background archiving and versioning happens on the fly.”
die paten has used a number of Quantel systems over the years, including Editbox and more recently, Paintbox. “Most of our work is commercials and design-based projects,” Lottermoser adds. “While other systems are fine for offline and preparation work, only Quantel has the power we need for finishing. In fact, all of our advertising work is done on Quantel.”
The eQ system will be delivered in the near future and work will commence immediately on ‘Ithemba Afrika’. “The film has a very high fast-cut editing and color grading requirement – perfect for eQ,” Lottermoser said.
