X-Tension Purchases Quantel eQ Multi-Resolution System

Cologne-based broadcast design company X-Tension has purchased a Quantel eQ multi-resolution editing, effects, colour correction and deliverables system.
X-Tension added the Quantel system to its workflow both to increase its productivity and to add new services for its clients. The company, started in 1994 by CEOs Oliver Geiss and Holger Gericke, produces every conceivable type of broadcast design, from stings and openers, all the way to station branding and corporate identity.
“We started X-Tension because we wanted to have full creative control of our work and also wanted the ability to offer broadcasters ideas not available from anyone else,” stated Geiss. “These aims remain true today and as such we regularly upgrade our equipment to keep up with the changes in market demand.”
When looking to replace its equipment, X-Tension looked at several systems in the marketplace, finally deciding to go with Quantel’s eQ for its fast and powerful interface and the broad featureset. “The intuitive interface allows our artists to concentrate on the creative aspects without worrying about endless menu choices, while the system’s many features will meet our current and future needs,” said Geiss.
“The biggest revelation about the eQ has been the QColor grading panel. While none of us have a background as colorists, we were able to quickly master the panel and achieve some very sophisticated results from it.” added Gericke. “Combined with the speed of the Quantel hardware, the QColor panel allows us to experiment with different color themes and thus hone our results without wasting time.”
The final big requirement was for any new system to be future-proof and to be able to adapt to changes in market demand.
