Generator Post chooses Quantel’s HD-capable eQ system

Finland’s leading postproduction house, Generator Post, has purchased a Quantel eQ HD editing system to bolster its feature film and commercials editing capabilities.
Generator Post was established in January 2002 from the merger of three well-established Helsinki post houses – Frameimage, Factory Post Production and Provideo. It boasts 17 suites that cover the full post gamut from telecine, effects and editing to audio, 3D, DVD authoring and film recording. Producing around 1,500 TV and cinema commercials a year, Generator Post services most of Finland’s major advertisers. Films for television and theatrical release are also an important part of Generator Post’s business, and the company is currently adding film negative processing to its services roster so that it can offer clients a complete film in, film out postproduction service.
“We are already doing all our feature film work at HD, which we find to be more than good enough for the big screen,” said Generator Post Managing Director, Juha Salminen. “The eQ will significantly increase our productivity in this area, and we hope will also help to move our commercials clients into HD production thanks to its speed. At the moment around 10% of our commercials work is HD; eQ should help us move this to 40% over the next year. We are also mixing HD and SD formats on some projects, and eQ’s Resolution Co-existence will be very helpful on these.”
Generator Post is a long-standing Quantel customer, and the eQ joins two Quantel Henry Infinity systems that carry out the bulk of Generator Post’s SD editing work.
