RTÉ News documentary wins award at US film festival

An RTÉ News documentary on the aftermath of the September 11 attack on New York’s Twin Towers, and its effect on three families, has won a major award at the prestigious Hope and Dreams Festival in New Jersey, America.
‘September 11th – Stories From The Twin Towers’ is a moving portrait of two Irish families and one Irish-American family whose lives were shattered in the disaster.
RTÉ’s Western Correspondent, Jim Fahy, who was among the first European journalists to reach New York in the immediate aftermath of the September 11 attack, followed the stories of the Clifford family from Ballintemple in Cork; the McHugh family from Tuam in Co. Galway and the McIntyres of New City, New York as they try to come to terms with the impact of the tragedy.
The programme won the ‘Best Documentary’ award at the Hope and Dreams Festival in Hope, New Jersey, from a total of two hundred films entered from both Europe and America. It has received screenings at other American film festivals and has received an honourable mention at the Colombus, Ohio International Film Festival and has been selected for final screening at the Pennsylvania Film Festival.
‘September 11th – Stories From The Twin Towers’ was produced by Caroline Bleahen.
