JAPANESE SUCCESS FOR SOLID STATE LOGIC AVANT

OXFORD headquartered Solid State Logic have announced the installation of a 112-channel Avant digital console at Sony’s new THX-approved film mixing theatre in Tokyo.
Studio operation commenced in August and since that time the console has been fully employed by the Sony KK subsidiary, mixing and sweetening audio for high-profile surround-sound projects.
Takeo Asano, Managing Director of SSL KK, said: "Many of the projects already completed were mixed in 5.1 - including one of the first to be broadcast in HDTV. Everyone has been amazed by the outstanding quality of the sound."
The 112-channel Avant console is the largest to have been installed in Japan to date.
Leading Japanese post-production facility Imagica have recently ordered a second 64 channel Avant digital console for their Akasaka Video Center in Tokyo. In addition to their Avant equipped facility, Imagica have a further three studio complexes in Tokyo including Imagica Ginza with two Axiom-MT digital multi-track consoles. A further two studios - Shinagawa and Eizou Center - are equipped with SL 4000 series consoles, the subject of another recent order from Imagica when they selected an SL 4040 G+ as the 11th SL 4000 series console to be installed.
In addition, it was announced that NHK, the Japanese national broadcaster, have ordered a third Avant for video post-production. With more than 150 audio engineers, the ease of operation and familiarity of Avant's control surface was a key factor in NHK's decision.
