IN-MOVIES.CO.UK ANNOUNCE WINNING SCRIPT DUO

THE UK’s short film web channel, in-movies.co.uk, have announced that Sophie Weaver and Stephen Rice, the writers of ‘Between The Wars’ as the winners of their Kodak, Panavision and The Screenwriters Store sponsored short-film script competition.
The in-movies competition was open to all film script-writing novices with the aim of finding, funding and supporting new British talent.
Laurence Penn, Chief Executive of in-movies, said: “We received over 300 entries of a very high standard, however Sophie and Stephen’s script displayed real cinematic vision and told a very contemporary story with genuine feeling. It should make a great short film”.
Weaver and Rice have developed a strong writing partnership, and collaborated on several works, including two feature length screenplays. Weaver maintains an interest in the performing arts and has appeared in a short film and numerous theatre projects. She is a member of the Mercury Theatre, Colchester, and would like to write for television.
Rice has had a career ranging from repairing lorries, writing and performing stand-up comedy on the London circuit, and pickling pig’s ears. He splits his time between managing a band and writing feature film screenplays.
Filming will begin in early 2001 with the award-winning production company, Whatever Pictures.
The completed short will be entered into all the major film festivals throughout the world.
