London Celebrates Local Film-making Talent

ITV Local London, ITV’s regional broadband TV service in the London area, is entering into a partnership with Film London, in order to raise the profile and celebrate London’s emerging film-making talent.
ITV Local, which launched in London earlier this month, will become an official media partner of the London Borough Film Fund Challenge, a fund that is issued by Film London to stimulate local film-making across the capital. Under the partnership, local residents who are taking part in the challenge will have the opportunity to have their films aired on itvlocal.com.
The London Borough Film Fund currently financially supports five ‘cluster’ film funds, which represent a total of 13 different London Boroughs: Barking and Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge (Eastern Edge Film Fund); Bexley, Greenwich and Bromley (Tri-Pod Film Fund); Enfield, Haringey and Waltham Forest (Triangle Film Fund); Ealing and Hounslow (Ealing and Hounslow Short Film Production Scheme); and Lewisham and Southwark (South London Film Fund). The London Borough Film Fund Challenge will run again in the new financial year.
Adrian Wootton, CEO of Film London said: “This is an exciting new partnership between Film London and ITV Local, which will increase opportunities for new young filmmakers, and help raise the profile of the short film production schemes we support in association with our colleagues across the London Boroughs.”
Nick Haworth, Channel Manager at ITV Local London said: "There’s a wealth of film making talent in London and this is just one example of how ITV Local can showcase short films to a much broader audience.”
Film London is the capital’s film and media agency. Film London sustains, promotes and develops London as a major international filmmaking and film cultural capital. This includes all the screen industries based in London – film, television, video, commercials and new interactive media. Film London is supported by the UK Film Council and the London Development Agency. Film London also receives significant support from Arts Council England London, the European Regional Development Fund, the Mayor of London and Skillset.
