Pinnacle Systems Deko graphics systems enhance televised beauty pageant

Pinnacle Systems, a leader in digital video solutions, announced that its Pinnacle Deko real-time graphics system was selected to deliver the new graphical look of the 2005 Miss Universe Competition, live on NBC.
It is estimated that nearly one billion viewers watched the Miss Universe pageant, broadcast last month to more than 180 countries worldwide.
“Miss Universe is not only the world’s premier beauty pageant; it is consistently one of the most widely viewed live broadcast productions,” says Rachel Frimer, vice president of production, Miss Universe Organization. “An event of this calibre demands a world-class graphics system and Pinnacle Deko offers the new creative options, greater programming flexibility and streamlined operation we need. Live production is about being quick – Pinnacle Deko is quickest to air and lets us make adjustments on the fly, even at air time.”
For this year’s telecast, producers selected the Pinnacle Deko 3000. As with all Deko family products it delivers powerful creativity tools that help broadcasters establish persuasive on-air brands along with sophisticated template and automation capabilities that improve efficiency and productivity in live productions and ensure consistent, pervasive delivery of branding.
Deko 3000 is used in a wide variety of broadcast applications including live sports events, entertainment programming and newsrooms. Advanced graphics capabilities include real-time 3D motions, 3D DVE-style transitions, video clips and animating true 3D models.
“The Miss Universe telecast is one of the premier showcases of beauty and talent in the world,” said Pinnacle Chief Operations Officer, Ajay Chopra. “Deko is the first choice in graphics systems for major awards programs and we are very proud that its producers have selected Pinnacle Deko to develop and deliver the new sophisticated on air look for this highly recognisable brand.”
Pinnacle Systems provides broadcasters and consumers with cutting-edge digital media creation, storage, and play-back solutions.
