Pinnacle wins contract to refit VMMa's GC stock
Pinnacle Systems have been contracted to replace the aging CG stock of Vlaamse Media Maatschappij (VMMa) – the largest commercial broadcaster in the Flemish region of Belgium.
Pinnacle are to provide the broadcaster's three TV channels – VTM, Kanaal 2 and Jim TV – with seven Deko CGs.
Five of these systems will be installed at VTM where two FXDeko ll with ClipDeko are destined for the production and newsroom studios. The other three one-channel FXDeko II systems will go in the post-production and news editing suites.
Kanaal 2 will get two one-channel Deko 2200 in the post-production suite and the final continuity room. Jim TV has been a Deko user for over a year with Deko 100, Deko 2000 and ClipDeko. VMMa hopes to purchase another Deko when they begin interactive TV.
Deko systems were chosen for their open architecture and PC-based format which makes them enormously flexible and able to update and grow as the technology grows.
Jozef Mertens, director of Engineering at VTM, said: “Before we decided on the Dekos, we tested them against other manufacturers’ equipment and they were the best. As well as their open architecture, they are windows-based which gives them a familiar look and feel, their performance is excellent and the cost is very reasonable. In addition, the operators in graphics and post-production were asking for them.”
Pinnacle Systems’ claim that Deko CG family reflects the end-to-end requirements of today’s broadcaster. Whether the need is for a high-end system for live sports, a content localisation solution, news and entertainment, a workhorse caption generator, or a sophisticated titler to augment a non-linear editing system, Deko delivers stunning results at every level.
A common application ties all Deko products together, ensuring seamless collaboration and minimising reliance on specialised talent. Integrated networking enables Deko products to share content with and directly support the capability of your CGs, switchers, DVEs, NLEs and graphics workstations.
New video graphics engines feature twice the processing power for even more of the capability that has made Deko the choice of broadcast leaders like CBS, Turner Broadcasting, ESPN, Sky News, NRK and countless others on the leading edge.
