Plymouth Media-Partnership membership tops 300

MORE than 300 people have now signed up as members of Plymouth Media-Partnership, which aims to support and develop the media and new media sector in Plymouth and the surrounding area.
Since its launch in November 2003, PMP has attracted 338 members working in the digital screen industries – from the world of movies, television, interactivity and new media.
PMP’s coordinator Karen Stockdale said that the network was working for its members, and that Plymouth was benefiting from the process: “Companies are seeing real benefits from clustering through sharing information, news and market intelligence. It is clear from our membership that there is a vibrant creative sector in and around Plymouth."
PMP chairman Mark Hawkins of TwoFour TV said: "PMP has demonstrated that we have a phenomenal network of creative talent right here in Plymouth which I believe is unrivalled outside London. Our next challenge is to promulgate this fact so that Plymouth becomes synonymous with screen-based media."
Last year Plymouth City Council launched its Creative Plymouth initiative, recognising the value and importance of the creative industries in the city.
The Plymouth City Growth strategy has also identified the creative industries as a priority sector, and PM-P is leading the way bringing energy, influence and leadership to the screen based industries.
PMP runs monthly events to improve skills, to give opportunities for companies to meet buyers and share the latest technical and creative knowledge.
Forthcoming events include a Meet the Commissioner opportunity with BskyB’s Paul Crompton on April 28 and a Meet the Money opportunity on May 26.
Plymouth Media Partnership is supported by the South West Regional Development Agency through South West Screen and Plymouth City Council.
