IRISH FILM BOARD ANNOUNCE SHORT SHORTS AND IRISH FLASH
THE IRISH Film Board have announced their selection for the first series of Short Shorts and Irish Flash.
The new Short Shorts and Irish Flash schemes were launched at the Darklight Digital Film Festival in May 2000.
Short Shorts aims to add to the range and scope of Irish short film-making and to encourage talent in all areas of film production. Filmmakers are invited to send proposals for imaginative, eye-catching films from one to three minutes long. Short Shorts should work with all the high impact power of ads, but without a product to sell.
Short Shorts were selected by Damien O'Donnell, director of ‘35 Aside’ and ‘East is East’, Mick Hannigan, the director of the Cork Film Festival and Rod Stoneman from the Irish Film Board. A total of twelve Short Shorts and seven Irish Flash projects have been selected for production.
The Short Shorts that were selected are as follows:
Racism, Brown Bag Films; Agin'the Wall, Guerilla Films; Fifty Percent Grey, Zanita Films; Storm, Clare Langan; The Box, Raven Films; Ivor the Insomniac, Zanzibar Productions; The Man Who Took on the Tide, Paradise Pictures; Feline Persuasion, Fu Fu Productions; Riblock Foundation, Zanzibar Productions; Man, Great Western Films; Chicken, Hit & Run Productions; Pitch 'n' Putt, Blue Light Productions.
Irish Flash, initiated by the Irish Film Board and AtomFilms, builds on the success of Frameworks to add to the range and scope of Irish animation and to encourage new talent working in this new digital format.
The following films were selected for Irish Flash:
Inferno, One Productions; Crap in the Park, Stephan Simpson; Dress Rehearsal, Cartoon Saloon; Bear, Cartoon Saloon; Kid Biscuit & the King, 9mm Film.com; Rolondo, Monster Animation; Polly, Rosg Teoranta. (CD)
