IEE INTRODUCE MULTIMEDIA SEMINAR

A seminar on ‘Multimedia communications in the 21st Century – Winners and Losers?’, is to take place at Savoy Place in London on December 10, 2001.
The seminar will provide the opportunity to hear the views of those at the forefront of the multimedia communications industry.
Confirmed speakers include Dr Theo Peek, Chairman of DVB; Philip Langsdale, CEO of BBC Technology; Stephen Lowe, Chairman of the Broadband Wireless Association; and Peter Walker, Director of Technology at Oftel.
Topics to be addressed include the technical and future status of delivery platforms as well as the commercial future of the technologies and their impact on the market for content providers. The day includes an open forum discussion as well as hardware and software demonstrations from companies with multimedia technology.
The seminar also marks the launch of the Institution of Electrical Engineers (IEE) Professional Network (PN) to provide a range of services and support to over 14,000 of their members who work in multimedia communications.
The PN will offer access to global industry news, training courses, technical articles, discussion boards, links to other useful sites as well as a comprehensive jobs database.
The electronic discussion forum will be a valuable resource for professionals seeking information and assistance and the means to share knowledge and experience with others within the industry. (CD)
