UTV and NIFTC announce fourth training scheme series
UTV and the Northern Ireland Film and Television Commission (NIFTC) have announced the launch of the fourth series of ‘HOME’, a factual television production training and development scheme.
The ongoing programme has brought to the fore many individuals who have gone on to develop successful careers in the television industry. These include Edel O’Mahony who went on to develop the critically acclaimed ‘Is This It?’ exploring Budhism for Channel 4’s Witness strand and Eamon Devlin presently producing and directing The Right Move for BBC NI.
Commenting on the new series, Robert Lamrock, Senior Director at UTV said: “This is a unique opportunity for aspiring producers, directors, or reporters to gain invaluable experience working with professional technicians. Successful trainees in the past have found that this scheme has helped their career progression within the broadcast industry.”
The scheme offers 32 people (16 teams of 2) either already working in television or interested in developing a career within the industry the opportunity to participate in a comprehensive training programme run by UTV senior personnel.
The NIFTC will provide a training grant of £500 for each successful participant and other production related expenses are covered by UTV and the NIFTC.
The scheme is open to residents across Northern Ireland.
