'Skills Focus' Training Scheme Launched
A new training scheme, Skills Focus, funded by UTV in association with Northern Ireland Screen has been launched.
The scheme offers people interested in developing a career in the media the opportunity to gain some hands-on experience.
Skills Focus welcomes applications from people for people not already established in television who can demonstrate a clear commitment to developing a career in the media. Twenty five people will be chosen to participate in this training programme which will cover the fundamental aspects of television production such as compliance, rights and clearances, budgeting and scheduling, basic video production techniques, basic post-production techniques and health and safety.
Following a number of training sessions five of the twenty-five trainees will be selected for a four month placement within UTV. During their placements they will have a hands-on role within relevant departments in UTV and contribute as programme makers in a production or technical role. These five successful applicants will also receive a training salary throughout their placement.
Michael Wilson, Head of Television at UTV said: "Many people are interested in getting into television but don’t necessarily know how to go about it. Skills Focus is a great start which will ‘fast track’ successful applicants through the production processes in UTV and hopefully will lead to a career in the media."
For an application pack and further information please contact Christine Morrow, Short Film Coordinator via email at [email protected] or click here for email details.
The closing date for receipt of applications is Tuesday 26 June 2007.
