McMillan provide minimum cost DVD encoding
McMillan have become the exclusive dealers in Europe for an inexpensive breakthrough software MPEG encoder for DVD production.
The Cinema Craft CCE-SP software MPEG encoder is claimed to be much faster than other encoders – faster even than Real Time (Media Cleaner, the 'industry standard' is 20 X Real Time, making the time savings extremely apparent).
However, the speed has no detrimental effect on the quality of the output, say McMillan. Tests have shown that the Cinema Craft CCE-SP, which retails at around £1500, is equally as good as some encoder boards costing upwards of £20k.
This places the new encoder not only within the price range of many smaller operations who may wish to try DVD authoring, but also means that it has the quality needed by high-end users. In addition, say McMillan, , by using software encoding, the product avoids the need for the expense of dedicated capturing hardware.
