Cintel launches new film scanner at NAB

Cintel has launched a new film scanner - DSX - at NAB 2002. The latest addition to the well established range of Cintel scanners, DSX has been developed specifically for high-end commercial post-production, resolution independent film mastering and restoration projects.
Developed to keep users at the forefront of the industry, DSX uses cutting-edge technology to ensure the highest image quality - regardless of film type or image condition.
The new scanner also includes 'OSCAR' (Optical Scratch Concealment and Restoration), an innovative electro-optical system that works in real time to remove the effect of surface dust and scratches on film.
DSX provides exceptionally bright, sharp, steady, accurate and noiseless images at 4K, 2K, HD and SD. The state of the art colour vector processing also ensures colour tones are precisely repeatable and provide a distinctive and individual 'film' look.
Following its preview at IBC last year, the first DSX has recently been installed at The Moving Picture Company (MPC), one of Europe's leading digital post-production facilities.
Jean Clement Soret, senior colourist and director at MPC said: "We've been very impressed with the creative possibilities of DSX. 'OSCAR' is also a fantastic tool that brings extra depth and clarity to the picture, cleaning the film in a single pass. DSX also has a different way of analysing colours compared to other film scanners, so this will complement the range of services we can offer to our clients."
