Megahertz Broadcast install Hungarian uplink
Megahertz Broadcast Systems are to specify, supply and install a satellite uplink system in Hungary, which forms part of a project being funded by the Hungarian Government.
The aim of the project is to link a new broadcast playout facility in Budapest to the regional cable headends.
Under the terms of the agreement, the signal will be transmitted unencrypted so that it can be received direct to home.
Hungarian company Pro-Tech Studio Trading, which has been given the task of facilitating the project, placed the order. The new playout facility operates on the AMOS1 satellite and the uplink will employ a 2.4m dish fed from a fully redundant Encoder/HPA system.
Steve Burgess, Technical Director of Megahertz Broadcast Systems, said: “The system will distribute the signal to various hubs around the country and from there it will go out on cable to the consumer. It is out of the ordinary because the Hungarian Government has insisted that the signal is transmitted in the clear so that everyone can receive it, regardless of the receive system they are using at home.”
Installation and testing is taking place now and will be completed by the end of May 2002.
