Megahertz Broadcast Systems have 'successful' start to 2002

The UK-based Megahertz Broadcast Systems, which provides sound facilities to broadcasters around the globe, have reported the successful completion of a number of important contracts since the beginning of the year.
In South Africa, a contract with etv will see the provision of a new sound control room for the existing studio at the broadcaster’s main headquarters in Cape Town. The project includes a 48-channel Soundcraft B800 mixing desk and a wealth of associated outboard equipment. The complete installation is planned to take place while maintaining an on-air service for the news bulletins from the same studio.
Another hi-tech but low-profile project is the installation of broadcast facilities in a training auditorium for a major bank in the City of London. The auditorium will offer six remote-controlled pan-and-tilt head broadcast cameras, which are controlled both from manual control panels and a computer system. A Thomson SDI vision mixer and network router forms the heart of the system which provides tri-ax connectivity for Outside Broadcast (OB) events and fibres for connectivity into the client’s existing network infrastructure.
Meanwhile, Megahertz Broadcast Systems continues to offer their line in bespoke woodwork for broadcast installations. Recent orders have included providing studio control room furniture for the national broadcaster in Kuwait, and HTV in Cardiff. Desks have also been completed for Cactus Television in London for Channel 4’s 'Richard and Judy Show' and Pinewood Studios have also taken Megahertz furniture for the BBC cult quiz show 'The Weakest Link'. The show won the Most Successful International Programme category of the UK’s annual Broadcast Awards, having been licensed to some 75 territories worldwide.
