ATG Broadcast To Promote Its Broadcast Systems
ATG Broadcast returns to the Dubai World Trade Centre in March, promoting its all-embracing range of broadcast systems planning, design, installation, commissioning and post-installation support services.
Exhibiting on stand F6-22 at CABSAT 2013, ATG Broadcast will be represented by Christoffer Kay (Managing Director), Tim Felstead (Head of Sales and Marketing) and Zaheer Khan (Marketing Executive).
"Like their colleagues throughout the world, Middle East broadcasters are seeking maximum operational flexibility in the rapidly diversifying world of television," states Tim Felstead. "Our message at CABSAT as at other shows is that file-based technology offers huge benefits in terms of creative versatility, efficiency, robustness and affordability. Our design teams have unsurpassed experience in this field having pioneered the transition from discrete media libraries to networked content management. We are now leading the integration of software-based technology into areas of system infrastructure that have hitherto required dedicated hardware.
Projects currently in progress or recently completed include:
•A DTT multiplex system as part of the extension of terrestrial digital video broadcasting services for a major European transmission service organisation.
•Playout facilities for the new HD2 Sports high-definition channel at the Stockholm headquarters of TV4 Sweden.
•A networked ENPS newsroom for South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC). With 1,100 user licences, the new system is the world's fifth largest of its kind. Its primary role is to prepare content for all SABC television and radio news operations, including regional stations and international bureaux. The core installation is located in SABC's headquarters at Auckland Park, Johannesburg.
•An insert studio at the London offices of a US-based global financial services corporation.
•An expanded playout system for Icelandic Broadcasting Service’s Reykjavik transmission centre.
In addition to its complete range of systems integration services, ATG Broadcast exhibit will promote selected products from AmberFin which the company represents as exclusive distributor in the Middle East.
Designated iCR-100-DPP (transcoder), iCR-300-DPP (media ingest workstation) and iCR-500-DPP (media ingest, transcode, playback, metadata entry and QC review), these new products reflect AmberFin’s aim of addressing the broadest range of media organizations with enterprise level solutions that are designed to meet their specific business needs.
The iCR-300-DPP media ingest workstation and the iCR-100-DPP transcoder are both designed specifically to create high-quality MXF-wrapped AVC-Intra or D10 assets compliant with the AMWA AS-11 specification and DPP guidelines from tape or line sources. Available as a standalone workstations or scalable enterprise solutions, both systems reflect a design that is optimised for easy integration and operation with proven interoperability in multi-vendor environments. The workstations offer clearly defined, documented and extensible APIs. They benefit from AmberFin's Unified QC (UQC) approach, providing automated and manual quality control operation.
The iCR-500-DPP is the complete workstation for the creation and preparation of AMWA AS-11 DPP-compliant assets. The iCR-500-DPP combines ingest, transcode and playback functionality with metadata entry and validation, QC review, mark-up and segmentation.
A British broadcast industry initiative aimed to help broadcasters maximise the benefits of digital production, the Digital Production Partnership is an industry collaboration led by ITV, BBC and Channel 4 with the active participation of Channel Five, Sky, S4C and the independent production sector. At CABSAT, ATG and Amberfin will be discussing the merits of this approach with broadcasters wishing to create similar interoperability guidelines for file exchange within the Middle East.
