Miranda To Debut iControl Headend Facility Monitoring
Miranda Technologies Inc, a global provider of integrated solutions for production, playout and delivery systems for television broadcasters and multi-system operators, will introduce its iControl Headend video network management system on booth 10.1 / P15 at the ANGA Cable Show taking place in Cologne, Germany from June 12-14, 2012.
Miranda's iControl Headend is designed for network operation centers at cable, satellite or IPTV facilities and provides operators with the industry's most advanced end-to-end video signal path and QoE monitoring. By correlating the vast amount of telemetry available to quickly pinpoint service-impacting impairments and comprehensively verifying quality with clear visibility throughout the signal path, iControl enables operators to quickly identify items that genuinely require corrective action, resulting in considerable time and operational expense savings, and a far higher quality of experience for subscribers.
According to Mitch Askenas, Miranda's director of business development for television service providers, "Operations personnel need to focus on what matters to viewers, a responsibility that is not helped by chasing false or irrelevant alarms. The introduction of iControl Headend spells the end of operational disruptions caused by inaccurate alarms."
Operators face a constantly increasing number of channels and distribution methods to meet subscriber demand. The Miranda technology pedigree incorporated in iControl Headend delivers aggressive, comprehensive monitoring of multi-channel distribution networks with tools that go far beyond simple monitoring of IP packets and transport streams. The benefits include a vastly reduced mean time to repair, improved service and higher subscriber satisfaction. By verifying signal quality, not just signal presence, iControl contributes to reducing alarms that are not actionable, allowing operators to focus on those errors that are truly impacting the viewer, and therefore require immediate attention. Fewer alarms translate into fewer truck rolls, allowing substantial savings in operational expenses.
iControl Headend is an agnostic video network management system (NMS) that works in concert with other network elements to either monitor them or collect telemetry data from them. It provides outstanding performance with third-party devices, via SNMP, or as part of a comprehensive Miranda solution that includes Kaleido mulitviewers, Densité probes and NVISION routers.
