Miranda Technologies' NAB line-up to focus on HDTV

Miranda Technologies will be launching multiple HDTV products at NAB2005, including a more powerful master control switching and channel branding processor, advanced HD signal processing interfaces, and expanded station monitoring and control solutions.
Miranda is also to extend its range of workflow enhancing, camera-mounted HD and DV interfaces.
Miranda’s successful Imagestore HDTV master control switching and channel branding processor will be strengthened with a new dual DVE and an integral multigroup audio mixer. The dual DVE option enables high-quality dual picture-in-picture effects for compelling program junctions and promotional graphics.
The new audio mixer provides 16-channel audio mixing using embedded or AES audio, and this provides an elegant solution for multichannel audio playout, including 5.1 and multilingual broadcasting. The processor can also provide eight-channel audio storage for 5.1 clips or stereo voice-overs in four different languages. Imagestore HDTV can be fully controlled by automation or with the easy-to-use PresStation panel, and it is fully scalable for basic HD branding activities or advanced graphics and master control switching.
Miranda will significantly extend its range of award-winning Imaging Series XVP HD interface modules with an HD cross- and downconverter, an upconverter and crossconverter, and an HD frame synchroniser and downconverter. These new interfaces all feature firmware that can be readily upgraded to provide additional signal processing functionality, thereby offering feature flexibility without a heavy up-front investment.
Another new Imaging Series module is the affordable QXC-801i HD crossconverter, which offers interfacing between popular HD standards including 1080i and 720p.
Miranda will also be showing an enhanced range of compact Densité Series interfaces, including the new DEC-1021 NTSC-to-SDI 3D/2D decoder, frame synchronizer, and proc-amp, which offers probing and streaming of video over IP for more effective remote control and monitoring.
Miranda will be showing its iControl monitoring and control over IP system adapted for key applications including incoming feed management, multichannel HD/SD master control, and network operation centres for cable, satellite, and IPTV operators.
Many new features have been added to iControl, transforming it into a high-level Element Management System specifically tuned to television and radio operations. The system leverages industry-standard SNMP protocols for monitoring and control of video as well as all of the surrounding transmission, networking, and building infrastructure.
A new Third Party Zone feature allows third-party applications to be hosted directly within iControl. When problems occur with a third-party element, iControl will automatically reveal the third-party application for the failed element. Another innovation is scripted macros that allow automatic reaction to element failures or guide operators through complex diagnostic and repair procedures. All these features enable operators to diagnose and repair complex systems more effectively, dramatically reducing downtime.
A simpler and lower-cost version of iControl, called iControl Solo, will also been launched.
Miranda’s range of workflow enhancing HD and SD camera-mounted interfaces will be strengthened with the DVC-802/822 HD downconverter and DV encoders for Sony and Panasonic HD cameras, as well as the MDC-902/922 HD downconverters, all of which feature 24p to 50i support.
At the other end of the camera market, Miranda has introduced the DV-Bridge-CAM, an interface for DV cameras that provides high-quality DV-to-SDI conversion.
This neat interface fits on a DV camera’s tripod mount and makes it easy for compact and low-cost DV cameras to output broadcast standard video.
