Ridley Scott And YouTube Launch Online Film Festival

News Image
YouTube has announced that it will launch an online film festival, which will see ten finalists sent to the Venice Film Festival.
English filmmaker Sir Ridley Scott has joined forces with the video sharing site and launched an online competition offering budding filmmakers a £324,000 grant to create a film with him.
As well as this the final ten films, as voted for by the public, will then be screened at this year's Venice Film Festival.
Scott will lead a jury of industry professionals who choose the winner. Fifty semi-finalists will be selected and then short listed by Scott’s production company. Entries will be accepted until March 31.
Entrants can make the film about any subject in any genre, however the film can be no longer than 15 minutes in length and must not have been distributed prior to 1 January 2010.
Scott, well known for films such as Alien, started his career with short films almost 50 years ago.
