BFI Short Filmmaking Scheme Announced
Brighton-based digital culture agency Lighthouse has been selected as the management company for Film Fund Shorts 2012, the BFI's new one-year shorts scheme for UK film talent.
The appointment comes in recognition of the organisation's strong track record of hands-on work with UK filmmakers, and successful delivery of schemes, including Guiding Lights, one of the UK's leading mentoring programmes for filmmakers.
Film Fund Shorts 2012 forms part of the BFI's commitment to supporting emerging filmmaking talent and providing opportunities for filmmakers with a strong background in shorts to demonstrate their potential to create feature films that will entertain and engage audiences.
In early February, Lighthouse will launch an open call inviting filmmakers with demonstrable experience to apply to Film Fund Shorts 2012. Up to 20 films will be commissioned at budgets ranging from £25,000 to £50,000. Additional non-financial support may be provided if selected projects require further development before going into production. The films are due to be delivered by the end of 2012.
More information about Film Fund Shorts 2012, including full application details, will be launched in February. To find out more about the scheme, sign up to the Lighthouse mailing list.
