Antipodes Deal For BAFTA On Starpics

Content Media Corporation's Content Television has concluded a new deal in Australia for its prestigious event programming, as Movie Network Channels acquires the Orange British Academy Film Awards and the BAFTA Los Angeles Britannia Awards.
The acquisition will see Movie Network Channels airing both star-studded awards ceremonies on its Starpics Channel.
The Orange British Academy Film Awards, which take place at London's iconic Royal Opera House, will air in February 2012 and the Los Angeles-based Britannia Awards, which this year honour Warren Beatty, Ben Stiller, David Yates, John Lasseter and Helena Bonham Carter, will air in December 2011.
Saralo MacGregor, Executive Vice President, Worldwide Distribution at Content Television commented: "We are delighted to see these high-profile television specials heading to Movie Network. Both awards ceremonies attract the cream of internationally renowned cinematic talent, so we are confident they will be a huge success with viewers in Australia."
Colleen Meldrum, Programme Director, Movie Network Channels added: "These events will be a perfect accompaniment to our schedules, giving viewers the opportunity to experience all the glitz and glamour on offer as their favourite stars and films are honoured by the BAFTA organisation."
A leading independent charity, BAFTA supports, develops and promotes the art forms of the moving image.
Each year, an expert industry membership of nearly 6,500 individuals around the world identifies and rewards the highest achievements in film, video games and television across a host of illustrious award ceremonies.
The Orange British Academy Film Awards celebrate cinema's leading acting, directing, producing, technical and writing talent, with previous nominees and guests including Brad Pitt, Martin Scorsese, Angelina Jolie, Cate Blanchett, Meryl Streep and Johnny Depp.
BAFTA also hosts the prestigious BAFTA Los Angeles Britannia Awards, a red carpet event which honours the biggest names in the entertainment industry for their contribution to film or television. Previous honourees include Tom Cruise, Tom Hanks, Kate Winslet, Robert De Niro and Steven Spielberg.
