Bafta To Honour The Stars Behind The Film
The glittering Bafta ceremony will not only pay tribute to a galaxy of stars but also to those who helped bring the movies to life.
Categories this year are The Carl Forman Award for Special Achievement by a British Writer or Producer in their First Feature Film, nominees include Andrea Arnold (Director) for 'Red Road' and Paul Andrew Williams (Director) for 'London to Brighton'.
Jonathan Dayton/Valerie Faris for 'Little Miss Sunshine' and Stephen Frears for 'The Queen' are in the category for The David Lean Award for Achievement in Direction - both films are featured in the best film category.
John Lasseter and George Miller are listed in the Animated Feature Film category for the feel good films 'Cars' and 'Happy Feet' respectively.
The latest Bond blockbuster is recognised in the Cinematography award, credited for this is Phil Meheux, also Rodrigo Prieto for powerful thriller 'Babel' and Barry Ackroyd for the poignant story of 9/11 'United 93'.
Included in the nominations for the Editing award are Lucia Zucchetti for 'The Queen' and Thelma Schoomaker for crime drama 'The Departed'.
Competing for The Production Design award are Patricia Field for 'The Devil Wears Prada' a satirical look at the soul selling world of fashion and K K Barrett and Veronique Melery for the colourful adaption of the tragic young Queen.
Casino Royale and 'Pirates Of The Caribbean' are listed for the Sound award with credit going to Chris Munro, Eddy Joseph, Mike Prestwood, Matin Cantwell and Mark Taylor for Casino Royale and Christopher Boyes/George for the latter.
Acheivement in Special Effects recognise Mark Stetson for the ever popular 'Superman Returns' and Edward Irastorza/ Everett Burrell For 'Pan's Labyrinth' - the story of one young girls struggle to overcome monsters from in her imagination and in her life, set against the backdrop of the Spanish Civil War.
The British Academy of Film and Television Arts supports, develops and promotes the artforms of the moving image, by identifying and rewarding excellence, inspiring practitioners and benefiting the public.
The Bafta's will take place on Sunday 11 February 2007. The Awards will be sponsored for the tenth year running by Orange and will be broadcast on BBC One.
