IFB Funded Shorts To Broadcast On RTÉ
The Irish Film Board (IFB) funded shorts Enough, Whatever Turns You On, Uncle Bills Barrel and Two Point Five Billion will all broadcast on RTÉ's Shortscreen series over the coming month.
Enough, written and directed by Barry Dignam is a short film about a young couple whose screaming argument goes unnoticed in a restaurant. Dignam's previous credits include the short film Chicken which was selected for the Cannes Film Festival. Enough was produced by Jean Rice who has over 20 years experience in the film industry.
The award winning short film Whatever Turns You On, written and directed by Declan Cassidy tells the story of how the well ordered running of an electronics store is disrupted when a homeless man arrives to make a purchase. It is a humorous but poignant story of the need to belong.
Produced by Bill Tyson for production company Timesnap Limited, Whatever Turns You On has proved to be a huge hit on the international festival circuit having picked up a host of awards including Best Short Short at Aspen, USA, Best Film at Florence International Film Festival, the Audience Award at Filmstock International Film Festival, U.K as well as the Best Irish Short at the Kerry International Film Festival.
Eoin Ryan's Uncle Bills Barrel tells the tale of how a rural family copes with a deceased uncle who refuses to stay in his grave. The short was produced by Nick Ryan who wrote and directed the acclaimed short The German.
A scientist working in a revolutionary new field of quantum mechanics volunteers for a risky new experiment, despite the strong objections of his wife and misgivings of his colleagues in Jamie Hannigan's Two Point Five Billion. Starring Mark O'Halloran and Charlotte Bradley, the film was produced by Shirley Weir for Stitch Films.
Both Enough and Whatever Turns You On were financed by the Short Shorts funding scheme while Uncle Bill's Barrel and Two Point Five Billion were financed through the Signatures scheme.
