KEO Films Digs Up Hidcote For BBC Four

Keo Films has announced that it has been commissioned by BBC FOUR to produce Hidcote.
The one-off film explores the history behind the most influential English garden of the 20th century, and its mysterious creator, Lawrence Johnston.
In 1907, injures war veteran, Johnston began his life's work, creating Hidcote - one of the first gardens ever taken on by the National Trust. Johnston, a self-taught gardener, spent 41 years crafting his masterpiece, which he developed in the then fashionable Arts & Crafts style. The series of outdoor 'rooms' each have their own unique style and offer surprises and discoveries at each turn.
The documentary follows the personal mission of Hidcote's Head Gardener. Glyn Jones on his bid to uncover the story of its creator. Jones sets out to unearth Johnston's personal story and how he set about designing and building one of the most inspirational gardens in the world.

"It is fantastic to bring another National Trust site to life with BBC FOUR, giving us the opportunity to showcase these hidden gems of the English heritage to a wider audience."
Hidcote is executive produced by Andrew Palmer and directed by Ant Palmer for KEO Films. It was commissioned by Charlotte Moore for the BBC.
This commission follows KEO's previous series for BBC FOUR, Sissinghurst which followed the efforts of Adam Nicolson and Sarah Raven to restore the National Trust-owned Sissinghurst Castle and Gardens to its former glory.
KEO recently won the Documentary Series award for the multi-award-winning Welcome to Lagos at the RTS Programme Awards 2011.
