KEO Explores Sissinghurst For BBC 4

KEO Films has announced that it has been commissioned by BBC4 to make 'Sissinghurst', a documentary series exploring the legacy and future of the world renowned Sissinghurst Castle and Gardens in Kent.
During the 1930s, Sissinghurst was the home of the writer Vita Sackville-West, renowned for her passionate writing and even more so for her many affairs with both sexes.
Sackville-West lived in the castle with her diplomat husband Sir Harold Nicolson and now its owner the National Trust has allowed her grandson, Adam Nicolson, to move in with his wife.
'Sissinghurst' follows Adam and Sarah, a gardening and food writer, as they work at bringing the estate back to its former glory. The series shows their attempts at reviving the agricultural roots of the heritage site, alongside charting Adam's progress at exploring its history while researching for his latest book. The series will TX from February 22.
Andrew Palmer, Creative Director, KEO Films, said: "'Sissinghurst' is an entertaining and fascinating look at the history and current state of one of our most celebrated heritage sites. This series builds on the successes of our BBC2 series 'Save Lullingstone Castle' and 'Return to Lullingstone Castle' and is a perfect example of the kind of programming that we pride ourselves on making."
This commission follows KEO's 'Save Lullingstone Castle' (BBC2) and 'Return to Lullingstone Castle (BBC2), which followed the efforts of gardener Tom Hart Dyke as he aimed to save the Scottish castle by building The World Garden of Plants there as a tourist attraction.
Other successful KEO productions have included 2007's 'Blizzard: Race to the Pole' (BBC2) and the Bafta-nominated 'Meet the Natives' (C4), which was nominated for Best Documentary series at the 2008 Grierson awards.
'Sissinghurst' is executive produced by Andrew Palmer for KEO Films and Charlotte Moore for BBC4. It was commissioned by Richard Klein for BBC4.
