Screen Forum Present Homemade Vigilante

This month's Screen Forum, on October 27 at 7:30pm at Lighthouse, Wolverhampton, will showcase the first UK screening of Homemade Vigilante, the debut feature film from Roy's Boys, an award-winning independent film company based in Wolverhampton.
Roy's Boys is an independent film company established in the West Midlands by brothers Neil and Nathan Turner. Between them, they have written, directed and co-produced, alongside director of photography Jon Lewis, a number of short films since 2006.
Their second short The Acid Game garnered success on the film festival circuit, including first prize at the Angel Film Festival in London. At this month's event, the film will be introduced by the filmmakers with a Q&A session after the screening. Admission is free.
Originally a short film, made back in 2004, Homemade Vigilante has now been expanded into a feature film. It tells the comic tale of Darren Unsworth, a lonely office worker who dreams of becoming a superhero so he can clean up the mean streets of Wolverhampton. The only problem is that he doesn't have any superpowers or fighting skills, but he does have a cape and a huge comic collection.
Neil Turner said: "When we originally made Homemade Vigilante as a short, we were constantly cutting scenes and soon realised that we had the basis of a feature-length narrative. It was one big experiment for us. We wanted to test ourselves as directors and see how much we could do with such a low budget. It helped us to realise that the whole filmmaking process is one of compromise between your original vision and the constraints of time and money."
