Broadcast First For One & Other On O21 TV

O21 Television is providing the broadcast solution for Sky Arts' programming around One & Other.
The programme, focusing on the art project on Trafalgar Square's fourth plinth, will be broadcast in high definition and web streamed live 24/7 for 100 days. Television personality Clive Anderson will present a weekly live show every Friday for fifteen weeks.
Bob Young, Unit Manager at O21 Television, explained: "O21 is responsible for the live broadcast solution which is recorded and archived in full high definition and streamed via a network on line via One & Other's website."
O21's flyaway facility includes four Sony HDC 1500 cameras for the studio and another three Hotcam remote radio frequency cameras for the plinth.
Steve Boland, Project Consultant for O21 Television, was responsible for designing the architecture of the system that allows full remote control functionality of the plinth pictures and audio. He said: "Achieving the highest video and audio quality 24/7 via wireless connectivity between the plinth and production control, together with an end-to-end workflow to manage 2,400 hours of material, is the culmination of months of planning."
Antony Gormley, the world famous artist, who came up with the concept of One & Other was heavily involved in the aesthetics of the production. Cameras, microphones and lights were located around the plinth in a way that was sensitive to the design of the structure, but would also allow maximum functionality.
O21's Business Development Director Andrew Jones said: "We are delighted to be involved in such an ambitious, ground-breaking project, which we believe to be a first in televised history."
Sky Arts Production Executive Laura Green said: "O21 provided the facilities we needed and worked to the challenges a project in Trafalgar Square presents such as delivering a project without cabling and without showing cameras on screen."
One & Other airs every Friday on Sky Arts 1 HD and Sky Arts 1 at 7pm.
