Remote cameras move up to SDI at Broadcast Project Research
Broadcast Project Research and Bradley Engineering have announced a collaborative project that will soon make digital remote camera positions a practical possibility for any production team.
Combining their expertise in camera control and communications, they expect their ‘DigiAx’ Coax or Cat 5/6 multiplex cable link to undergo its first tests during this month. The cable system will open out the whole area of digital SDI based ‘Triax’ type camera operation to a wide field of both permanent and temporary camera uses. The Video, Audio, Comms, and Data capabilities of the system are geared to remote operation, and the Power capabilities will be compatible with IEEE 802.3af.
Dr John Emmett, Technical Director at Broadcast Project Research, suggested that the field of application could range anywhere from quick and easy broadcast remote camera setups to converting DV cameras for multi camera SDI operation.
