TechniSat Licenses RedKey 2 From Strategy & Technology

Strategy & Technology Client Systems, specialists in interactive TV playout systems and MHEG-5 middleware, has announced that it has licensed its RedKey 2 MHEG-5 interactive TV middleware to TechniSat.
TechniSat Digital Group is a leading consumer electronics organisation with headquarters in Daun, Germany.
Specialising in premium DVB products, TechniSat designs, develops and manufactures a range of Set Top Boxes, PVRs, PC cards, CA Modules and IDTVs with embedded Conditional Access and Common Interface for SD and HD services.
TechniSat has production facilities in Germany and Europe as well as R&D in Germany and the UK. TechniSat Digital UK Ltd has a long history of developing professional and consumer DVB products and was acquired by TechniSat Digital Group in 2006.
Martin Cole, Managing Director/CTO, TechniSat Digital UK, said: "We have a longstanding relationship with S&T and we believe that RedKey 2 provides key new features that will extend the power of MHEG-5, including return path capabilities. S&T is our partner for the development of interactive technologies and we are working with the company across solutions for a number of markets."
RedKey 2 is a software receiver engine that adds the globally successful MHEG-5i interactive TV middleware to set-top boxes and integrated digital television sets (IDTV). It provides significant enhancements over its predecessor and has been designed to address the need of the many new interactive television markets that are now emerging around the world.
Martin Cole added: "We believe MHEG-5 is a beneficial solution for the global TV market. It has been and is being deployed in huge numbers and provides an effective solution for interactive applications. The addition of a return path enables easy t-commerce transactions, access to additional content and operator services."
Paul Daly, General Manager, S&T Client Systems, said: "TechniSat is highly regarded in many markets and we are very pleased to be extending our relationship with the company. RedKey 2 benefits from a range of new features that we firmly believe provide real competitive advantage."
