F.D.I. Adds AutoCAD LT To Art Department Training

Film Design International has trained over 250 art department professionals since opening its doors at Pinewood Studios in 2001 and from September 1 adds an Auto CAD unit to the short courses available.
Developed by Kee Aloha (former lecturer at East Berkshire College) who joins FDI as consultant tutor, the 49-hour programme will augment the existing Certificate in Draughting and will be available as an optional or independent unit of study.
AutoCAD LT 2009 is the latest edition of the streamlined AutoCAD professional drawing software for Designers, Draughtsmen, Art Directors and Architects. Tutor Terry Ackland-Snow (whose credits include 'Batman', 'Aliens' and 'Inspector Morse') observed the increased popularity of computer aided design tools and is now confident they have found a software package that "compliments the traditional but fundamental methods of draughtsmanship that underpin the communication of creative ideas - methods at the core of an efficient art department."
All FDI courses, are designed to give in-depth understanding and usable skills within comfortable time constraints - manageable mid-career or between productions. The classes are small and a CAD student can expect one to one tuition.
FDI is a Skillset Approved Training Provider and in addition to the existing funding agreement they hope to also provide the CAD unit with Skillset funding soon.
