Tripp Lite Launches New Modular 3-Phase UPS Systems

Tripp Lite, a leading manufacturer of power protection and connectivity equipment, has launched its latest range of Modular 3-Phase UPS Systems, in line with the company's plans to capture a wider share of the market in 2008.
The four new models, which include SU20KX, SU40KX, SU60KX and SU80KX, have individual capacities ranging from 20kVA to 80kVA, system capacities of up to 160kVA, operational efficiencies of up to 97 per cent and are configurable up to 160kVA.
Collectively launched as the 'SmartOnline' Modular 3-Phase UPS Systems for 220/380V applications, the new range features self-contained, hot-swappable 20kVA power modules that are capable of providing N+1 redundancy for critical loads to seamlessly compensate the load in the event of module failure.
Backed with 1+1 parallel capability, the 'SmartOnline' systems can automatically support the full load if one UPS is subsequently removed or taken off line for maintenance. In the unlikely event that a module fails, the remaining modules seamlessly compensate to support the load.
The new models also feature 1+1 parallel capability, enabling two units connected in parallel to either provide 2N system redundancy or increase power capacity. Parallel connection can also be employed to double overall capacity. For example, two 80kVA units can be connected in parallel to support a load of 160kVA.
"The burgeoning regional economy has made uninterruptible power supply a main concern across all verticals, as the threat of unstable power delivery could lead to huge losses in time and finances," said Eric Diehl, Vice President of Sales for Western Europe and Canada at Tripp Lite. "We are positive that the launch of our newest products will be met with considerable interest from regional customers, owing to the state-of-the-art technologies we have incorporated within these new products and our strong repute as a leader in power protection in the region," he added.
Another notable feature of the 'SmartOnline' range is its low production of Total Harmonic Distortion (THDi), which is at a minimal 5 per cent, thereby enabling a 1:1 sizing of the UPS system to a generator set. Low THDi helps generators run cooler, lengthens generator service life and eliminates the need to oversize generators, cables and breakers. The systems’ advanced insulated-gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) inverter technology assures high-efficiency UPS operation, reducing cooling costs and lengthening UPS service life.
"The launch of our latest contribution is aimed at maximizing the availability for mission-critical systems, lower installation and operational costs, and facilitate efficient and timely service performance," he concluded.
