Filmmakers Provide The Vision To Local Musicians' Sound

Creative sparks are set to fly as North East musicians and filmmakers are given the opportunity to collaborate through the groundbreaking Sound & Vision Scheme.
To kick start this year's scheme Northern Film & Media and Generator North East, the partnership behind Sound & Vision 2008, held a special launch party event for an invited audience at the Tyneside Cinema on Thursday 17 July.
Under the scheme ten musicians and six filmmakers will be selected to collaborate on producing six original short films, each with an original soundtrack. One overall winning pair will later be selected and provided with £3,000 of funding to develop a longer piece of work.
Victoria Johnson, Training and Development Manager at Northern Film & Media said: "We were incredibly pleased and proud of what Sound & Vision achieved for both musicians and filmmakers last year. There was simply no question that we would be working in partnership with Generator North East on another, bigger and better version of the scheme this year."
Part audio visual celebration and part networking event, the launch party provides a fitting setting for the world premiere of 'Bewick's Mambo', the short film produced by the winning collaborators from last year's scheme, filmmaker Peter Snowdon and musician Paul Miskin.
Jim Mawdsley, Chief Executive of Generator North said: "On behalf of Generator, I would like to say how pleased we are to be launching 'Sound & Vision' for the second year in conjunction with Northern Film & Media. It’s a groundbreaking project, providing the opportunity and the resources for the region’s musicians and filmmakers to come together and create truly individual pieces of work - we look forward to see what creative collaborations take place this year."
