UK Post & Services Announces The Conch 2007 Sound Awards

UK Post & Services has announced the launch of The Conch Sound Awards 2007.
To be held on September 27th 2007 at The Mayfair Hotel, this year's Awards follow in the wake of the spectacular success achieved by The Conch in its inaugural year.
The organisers also announced two new categories; Best Music Production on a film or TV programme and Production Sound Mixer of The Year. Many industry manufacturers and companies are supporting The Conch again, including headline sponsor The Pinewood Studios Group.
The Conch Awards reflect the fantastic contribution made by UK facilities, sound editors and dubbing mixers to the art of audio post-production in film, TV and commercials, and are organised by industry trade body, UK Post & Services.
Due to the popularity of the awards last year, people are already queuing up for application forms and the demand for more categories within the competition has been huge. With this in mind two new prizes have been added to The Conch's Award list this year.
The Best Music Production category will be awarded to a film or TV programme that has shown the best music production, and it is open to both British and International TV companies providing that the production has been carried out in the UK.
The Production Sound Mixer of the Year, sponsored by Aquarium and Videosonics Cinema Sound, will be awarded to a person, based in the UK that recognizes his/her excellence in the field. The judging panel will take into consideration challenges faced during production (such as locations), quality of work produced and the application of new technologies.
The audio industry is invited to nominate projects from May 10, 2007 using an online or printed form available on the Conch website at www.ukpost.org.uk/conch.
Companies will be able to nominate themselves or their colleagues/peers, and after a shortlist has been created facilities will be asked to submit material for judging. The judging panel will comprise of leading industry experts, and winners from last years' awards will also be invited to sit in on the judging.
The winners of The Conch 2007 will be announced at the ceremony in September. The deadline for nominations is June 29th 2007.
