Autodesk Sponsor Awards And Events
Autodesk has sponsored several awards and events in recent months – including the ‘BAFTA Television Craft Awards’, the ‘Friday Late Animate Event at the V&A’ and the ‘Tate Modern’s Digital Art’ event.
At the upcoming BAFTA Television Craft Awards, Autodesk is sponsoring the VFX Award. Nominees include 'The Mill' and 'Doctor Who' for BBC Wales/BBC, and Simon Thomas and Oliver Money at MPC with Terry Pratchett’s Hogfather for Mob Films/Sky One. The BAFTA Television Craft Awards take place on 22 April 2007.
Last month Autodesk sponsored the Friday Late Animate Event at the V&A, which was hosted by Nexus Productions. Visitors had a chance to explore all animation techniques from hand-drawn frames to the latest computer technologies such as Autodesk’s 3ds Max and Maya 3D modelling and animation software. Friday Late animated the galleries at the V&A with workshops, performances and screenings celebrating the art of the moving image.
Autodesk announced the winner of the “Digital Art – A New Renaissance” prize draw. The winner Ryan Pilcher is a graduate of Southampton Art School, and he has won a license of Autodesk Maya 8.5 3D modelling and animation software, a training course of his choice at Escape Studios and the opportunity to work on a digital art project at Supernatural Studios using hardware supplied by AMD.
The prize draw was open to attendees of the 'Digital Art – A New Renaissance' event, which took place at the Tate Modern in September and October last year.
Joe Letteri, visual effects supervisor on 'King Kong', was among several high-profile guests taking part in a series of lectures on visual effects and computer animation. The event was hosted by Supernatural Studios and sponsored by Autodesk, Escape Studios and AMD.
