Conch Awards Lead Way For UK Sound Recognition

The influence of the Conch Awards 2007 has been recognised as one of the winners from last year's ceremony won the award for Best Sound Factual at the British Academy Television Craft Awards that took place on May 11.
The British Academy Television Craft Awards celebrate the unsung heroes who work behind the camera and the Sound Factual award was won by War Oratorio, a programme for which audio was produced by sound facility Aquarium in Soho, London.
At the Conch Awards 2007, War Oratorio won Best Audio on a TV documentary, proving an extremely popular and well-deserved winner.
Gaynor Davenport, CEO of UK Screen Association, said: "We are extremely pleased that War Oratorio has been recognised for its audio by the British Academy Television Craft Awards this year. This win highlights how important the Conch Awards are in promoting the UK audio industry and shows just how much audio talent lies within our country."
Peter Joly, Managing Director of Aquarium, said: "War Oratorio was a very powerful project for all of us at Aquarium and we knew how crucial the sound was to the story itself. It is awards such as the Conch Awards that help our industry to have our talents recognised throughout the world and it is through these awards that we can showcase our skills."
Nominations close on May 30.
